REGROW MD LASER 272

How is the RegrowMD Laser 272 any different from the other laser caps?

The Regrow MD Laser 272  is manufactured with high quality laser diodes. The special BioLight Comfort design provides designed for maximum delivery of laser light to the scalp and follicles through openings in the silicon liner and better results. You also benefit from over 17 years of experience from the pioneers in laser hair growth technology.

Do I need a prescription in order to use the Laser 272?

The Regrow MD Laser 272 is an FDA-Cleared OTC (over-the-counter) medical device so a prescription is not needed for use.

Using

REGROW MD LASER 272

How do I use the Laser 272?

Plug one side of the battery pack into the wall, plug the other side into your Regrow MD 272 device, place the device on your head, and hit the Power Button to turn on the laser light. Just wear the device on a clean scalp for 30 minutes, 3 days a week. A full User Manual is a standard part of the total package.

Do I need to cut my hair in order for the Laser 272 to work?

No. The inner liner was designed with BioLight Comfort that allows a direct flow of the red laser light to reach your hair follicles.

Does Low-Level Laser Therapy hurt?

Absolutely not. LLLT gives off no heat and is a 100% painless.

Is the battery pack rechargeable?

Yes, it is.

How do I charge the Laser 272?

  • Unplug the battery pack from the Laser 272. (The Laser 272 should never be connected to the battery pack while the battery pack is charging.)

  • Connect the battery pack to the wall charger. The blue indicator lights on your battery will blink while it is charging.

  • When the battery pack has reached full charge, all 4 blue indicator lights on your battery pack will be steadily illuminated (not blinking).

How long does the Laser 272 take to charge?

Charging times can range between 3-5 hours. Look for the blue indicator lights to stop blinking - that’s how you’ll know the battery is fully charged.

How long will the battery last on a single charge?

Your battery pack will last for three 30-minute sessions before running out of charge. It has been designed for a minimum of 500 re-charges.

How can I tell if the laser lights are turned on?

If you wish to test the lasers to confirm that they are working, we recommend placing the Laser 272 over an open palm to safely observe the red light from your lasers. The palm of your hand should glow with “speckles” of red light if the lasers are turned ON.

What if I forget to turn the Laser 272 off?

No worries! We built an automatic shutoff into your Laser 272 that will automatically activate after 30 minutes.

Can I leave the Laser 272 attached to the battery pack?

No, preferably not. We recommend unplugging the Laser 272 from the battery pack immediately after every use so as not to unnecessarily drain the battery.

The Laser 272 feels loose on my head. Is it supposed to feel loose?

The RegrowMD Laser should sit relatively loosely on most heads, so this isn’t cause for concern. The one-size-fits-most design has been developed for treatment while you are relaxing, so it’s better suited for a quiet read than using it during physical activity.

Can other people in my household also use my Laser 272?

Yes, more than one person in the same household can use the Laser 272. Just be sure to clean the device per the instructions in the user manual first.

Can I travel with my Laser 272? If so, how should I pack it?

You absolutely can travel with your RegrowMD Laser 272. Just pack it in your luggage or carry on bag.

How long will my Laser 272 last?

The high-quality laser diodes chosen for the RegrowMD Laser 272 are rated to last for at least 15,000 hours. As a combined result of the premium-grade lasers and durable materials used, we expect the lifespan of each device to be between 10 and 15 years of regular use.

Treatment Details

& TIMING

How long before I see actual results?

  • Phase I: This first phase focuses on minimizing hair loss and can take between 4 and 18 weeks of regular treatments.

  • Phase II: During this phase, miniaturization of the hair is reversed, resulting in thicker, fuller hair. This typically begins to occur after 18-26 weeks of regular treatments.

  • Phase III: It is during this final phase that you should begin to notice renewed hair growth. This process generally begins 26-52 weeks in to regular treatments.

*Please bear in mind that individual results may vary.

What is the recommended treatment time?

The recommended treatment time is 30 minutes per therapy session, 3 times a week on non-consecutive days (such as Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).

How many times per week can I use the Laser 272?

We recommend using the Laser 272, 3 days a week, every other day for best results. Each session should last 30 minutes.

How many times per day can I use the Laser 272?

We recommend using the Laser 272, 3 days week, every other day for best results. Each session should last 30 minutes.

How often should I use my Laser 272?

We recommend using the Laser 272 every other day (such as Monday, Wednesday and Friday) for best results. Each session should last 30 minutes. To maintain results, you have to use the device indefinitely on a consistent basis to continue to see positive benefits. Once you are satisfied with the results, you may try to cut back on treatments to twice a week for maintenance. However, if shedding occurs, you will have to return to treatment 3 times a week.

We do not recommend that you stop using the device altogether, because if you stop, your hair will return to the state it was in before you started treatment.

Can I use the Laser 272 every single day?

No, we recommend using the device every other day such as Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Using every day will not increase results.

How long will I need to continue treatments?

Is it safe to use the Laser 272 while taking hair loss medications, like Propecia (finasteride)or minoxidil

Adding LLLT to your current hair growth regimen should help to notably increase the rate and quality of your hair recovery. If your doctor has prescribed Propecia (finasteride), you should see his/her advice before combining treatment.

Is an increase in shedding normal during treatment?

In fact, it can occur during the first few weeks of treatment. But don’t worry, this is a sign that the treatment is working – and there’s no need for alarm. If you were to stop using the RegrowMD Laser your hair would return to where it was before you used the device. Therefore, we recommend taking the ‘long view’ and give treatment 12 – 16 weeks to begin to assess results.

Should I be using any special types of shampoo to complement the Laser 272 treatments?

We recommend that you use gentle shampoos without sodium lauryl sulfate.

Should I shampoo every day?

You do not have to change your user habits so it will be up to you if you wish to shampoo every day.

Can I use conditioner while undergoing Laser 272 treatments? If so, should I?

This is up to you as using Conditioner will not affect the results of using the device.

THE LASER 272

Eligibility

DETERMINATION

Can the Laser 272 actually help me?

The RegrowMD laser devices have been clinically proven to effectively and safely treat pattern hair loss and promote hair growth in both men and women*. The best time to use the devices is when you first notice hair loss or thinning hair. There have also never been any reports of serious side effects occurring. Users experience an average hair growth of 129 new hairs per square inch with results seen in 12 to 16 weeks. Based on our experience and results gathered from 7 clinical studies, users can experience one or more of the following:

  • Minimized and/or slowed loss of hair; reversal of thinning process, increased density and fullness, new hair growth stimulation

Continued use required to maintain results.

Is the Laser 272 suitable for both men and women?

The RegrowMD Laser 272 is FDA Cleared and ideal for both men and women.

Can the Laser 272 help to thicken my hair, too?

One of the primary benefits of regular treatment with the device is that regular treatment as recommend should result in hair that is thicker, fuller, and healthier.

How do I know if the Laser 272 is right for me?

The RegrowMD Laser 272 is indicated to promote hair growth in females with Androgenetic alopecia who have Ludwig (Savin) Classifications I through II, and males who have Norwood Hamilton Classifications of IIa to V as shown in the diagram below and for both with Fitzpatrick Skin Types I to IV.

And remember, the earlier you can begin treatment, the better the outcome. So even if you’re not noticeably exhibiting signs of hair loss yet, your scalp can still benefit from regular treatments, resulting in hair that is fuller, thicker, and healthier.

Can I use the Laser 272 if I’ve had a hair transplant?

Many hair transplant surgeons use the Regrow MD Laser 272 devices in conjunction with transplant surgery as they feel that they speed healing time, increase patency of the grafts and improve overall results. We recommend that if you wish to use the devices after your surgery that you consult with your surgeons about whether and how to use them after the transplant procedure.

Is it ever too early to begin using the Laser 272?

When you first notice hair loss, that is an ideal time to begin using at RegrowMD Laser. In addition to treating various stages of hair loss, laser hair therapy can help prevent further hair loss. If you are under the age of 18, you should seek the advice of a physician before using.

I’m in my early 20s and my mother and/or father is bald. Can I prevent hair loss?

Yes. By using the RegrowMD Laser 272 as a regular part of your scalp and hair regimen at the earliest sign of hair loss, you will help to reverse hair miniaturization and provide your hair with the energy it needs to keep on growing thick and full and healthy.

I am currently being treated for cancer. Can I use the Laser 272?

The device will not prevent hair loss during chemotherapy. However, while there have been no clinical studies carried out on helping to return hair after chemotherapy, some individuals have on their own chosen to use the devices in this regard and have reported some benefit.

Are there any medical conditions that could interfere with the effectiveness of this treatment (LLLT)?

Some medical conditions, along with any medications that they may require, can be the cause of slower-than-average results. This is why it’s so important to consult with a physician (if you have any type of hair loss other than pattern hair loss) and properly diagnose the cause of hair loss as well as identify any underlying conditions (especially conditions such as thyroid disease, anemia, or scalp conditions such as psoriasis).

Will the lasers even reach my scalp if I have a full head of hair?

Our high quality medical laser diodes are able to flow through to your follicles, via our BioLight Comfort design, so having a full head of hair should not in any way interfere with the effectiveness.

Does the Laser 272 work for light hair colors like blonde or gray?

The device works for all hair types and colors.

What is FDA Clearance? Why is it important?

The FDA evaluates items like the Regrow MD Laser 272 for its overall safety and effectiveness as a medical device. The process for gaining FDA Clearance is quite demanding and extremely time-consuming, but we consider the effort worthwhile since the safety and confidence of our users is of utmost importance.

Are there any known or potential side effects from using the Laser 272?

There have never been any reports of harmful side effects occurring with LLLT devices.

Could the Laser 272 cause cancer?

No – the light of the device is completely different from light that can cause cancer.

Are the lasers dangerous?

No, the laser are classified as Class III which means that they will not damage the eye if one does not stare into it.

Are there clinical results to support your claims regarding LLLT?

Technical

QUESTIONS

Why do the red lights blink on and off during use?

The lasers in your Laser Cap “pulse” for several important functional reasons:

  • Firstly, our lasers pulse in order to maintain a consistent output of 4-6 mW of red light energy all the way across the total circumference of the scalp without overtaxing the battery. Certain other popular laser caps miss this critical element, resulting in a reduction in battery life as well as a reduction in laser output (measured at just 2-4 mW compared to our 4-6 mW).

  • Secondly, choosing to “pulse” our lasers ensures safety, since constant-on output from 272 lasers simultaneously would cause the cap to give off heat.

  • So, in the end, what you get is a 100% safe and consistent output of red light energy from a Laser 272 + Battery Combo that you can count on to support your hair restoration goals long term.

What differentiates lasers from LEDs for hair growth?

Put simply, laser light is very focused compared with LED light, which prefers to “spread out” in all directions. This spreading action means that LED light loses its penetrative power rapidly as it travels. Many inferior so-called “hair growth” devices try to cut corners by utilizing LEDs in place of real lasers. This results in a cost reduction but also fully negates the effectiveness of the device, as LEDs do not contain adequate power to penetrate the base of hair follicles or reverse hair loss in any way. Our premium-grade laser diodes have been specifically calibrated to stimulate hair growth and scrupulously tested to ensure effectiveness. In other words: BEWARE LEDs and false claims; trust RegrowMD instead. To learn more about the differences between our lasers and LEDs for hair growth, visit our TECHNOLOGY section.

I read somewhere that plastic can block the effects of lasers. Is this true?

In fact, this is true in some cases. Fortunately for all of our users, however, we took this into consideration early on in the design phase of our Laser 272. Since the effective quality of the Laser 272 hinges on the consistent output of our lasers, we test our diodes both flat-on-the-board prior to assembly and then again once assembly has been completed to ensure that no power has been lost in the process. In fact, our diodes are tested multiple times throughout the process of production and assembly, guaranteeing flawless function and long-lasting dependability for our users.

Why are more diodes better? Does it really make any difference?

Having more diodes actually has quite a significant effect on the quality of your treatment. In simplest terms, the more diodes you have, the more scalp coverage you will experience as a result. Devices that use lower numbers of laser diodes do so because it costs less to manufacture, but significant benefits to hair health are lost along the way by simple virtue of the fact that less of the scalp is receiving direct treatment when lower numbers of laser diodes are being used. Additionally, larger numbers of diodes ensure greater consistency across the scalp, meaning that no part of your head is left! The RegrowMD Laser 272 uses 272 laser diodes in its design - the highest number of laser diodes available in a device of this style at this time.

Is the Laser 272 covered by my insurance?

In most cases, OTC (over-the-counter) devices like the Laser 272 will not be covered by medical insurance. We have worked hard to mitigate this inconvenience, however, by bringing our solution to market at an exceptionally aggressive price point. (Compare our Laser 272 to the capillus272pro, which retails at around $3000.)

How much does the Laser 272 weigh?

The Laser 272 has been designed with your ultimate comfort and safety in mind. It weighs in at just around 8 ounces, or half of a pound (without the included baseball cap installed).

Is your electrical adapter compatible with all international electrical outlets?

It is not. Our electrical components are manufactured in compliance with U.S. standards and designed to operate via the included AC Adapter, which is appropriate for standard U.S. electrical outlets. International use may require additional adapters corresponding with available electrical outlets.

Is the Laser 272 waterproof?

The RegrowMD Laser 272 and its accessories are NOT WATERPROOF. Keep the Laser 272 and its accessories away from water while in use and also when stored. Be sure the device cannot fall or be pulled into a tub or sink. Contact with water may result in an electrical shock, so NEVER reach into or touch the water if the device falls into water.

Are the lasers hot?

No. We use cool therapeutic lasers that stimulate the scalp. They are not hot lasers like you might experience with hair removal lasers.
